Motes

Motes are small particles of magic that spawn in areas with the correct elemental balance. There's many kinds of motes, and they float and crawl about like bugs...but aren't creatures at all, rather the potential for them. When enough motes are concentrated in one area, they may merge together to spawn something bigger.
